Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

AFTER the local Jumping Equitation and Show Jumping competition was cancelled last week due to wet weather, many Cannonvalley riders headed down to Pioneer River Valley Pony Club for a state qualifying Jumping, Equitation and Show Jumping event on the weekend.

All riders performed well for their first competition of the season, with many local competitors scoring important qualifying points for the State Championships in April.

Abigail Lee won the equitation and showjumping 10-years and under with Lachlan Grey coming a very close second.

Georgina Lee finished fifth in equitation and came away with second place in the showjumping 12 years and under.

Tori Mansfield placed sixth in equitation, followed by Lanie Krog who finished in seventh.

Amy Gray was very unlucky to miss out on a placing but should be commended on her efforts.

Breeanna Purvis finished fifth in the equitation 13 and under 15years, and came away with third place in the E Grade show jumping.

Sarah Dobe came fifth in the equitation 15 and under 17-years, third in the D grade and first in the 60cm unofficial on her horse Sassy. Sammi Warren and her horse Rosie came third in equitation 17 and under 21-years and went on to win the Pony/Galloway Show Jumping title.

Six-year-old Charlie Lee won the unofficial 10-years and under and got her first rug.

All riders should be proud of their achievements and all represented the club extremely well.

GREAT WORK: Charlie Lee, Sarah Dobe, Sammi Warren and Abigail Lee on their horses with (front) Georgina Lee and Lachlan Gray travelled to the Pioneer River Valley Pony Club for their state qualifying jumping equitation and show jumping event on the weekend.
