Swimmer wins 4 gold medals at NQ champs
WHITSUNDAY Swimming Club member Kate McDonald won four gold medals after competing in the North Queensland Swimming Championships in Townsville on the weekend.
Kate blitzed the field winning her 50m freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke events.
She also competed in the 810 years 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke where she placed ninth overall.
The highlight of the race meet was her individual medley, where she took 11.55 seconds off her personal best time and placed eighth overall in the 9-12 years age group.
The North Queensland Swimming Championships tops off a very busy swimming season for Kate. She also competed at the Queensland Sprint Championships held in Chandler in Brisbane last month.
She placed ninth in the state in her 50m freestyle and eighth in her 50m breaststroke.
Kate is now preparing to re- present her school in the Queensland Primary School State Championships in Brisbane from March 24-26 where she will compete in seven events.
