Swim­mer wins 4 gold medals at NQ champs

WHIT­SUN­DAY Swim­ming Club mem­ber Kate McDon­ald won four gold medals af­ter com­pet­ing in the North Queens­land Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships in Townsville on the weekend.

Kate blitzed the field win­ning her 50m freestyle, back­stroke, but­ter­fly and breast­stroke events.

She also com­peted in the 810 years 100m freestyle and 100m breast­stroke where she placed ninth over­all.

The high­light of the race meet was her in­di­vid­ual med­ley, where she took 11.55 sec­onds off her per­sonal best time and placed eighth over­all in the 9-12 years age group.

The North Queens­land Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships tops off a very busy swim­ming sea­son for Kate. She also com­peted at the Queens­land Sprint Cham­pi­onships held in Chan­dler in Bris­bane last month.

She placed ninth in the state in her 50m freestyle and eighth in her 50m breast­stroke.

Kate is now pre­par­ing to re- present her school in the Queens­land Pri­mary School State Cham­pi­onships in Bris­bane from March 24-26 where she will com­pete in seven events.
