Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

KEEN cinematographers in the Whitsunday community have an opportunity to take advantage of free ABC Open workshops being held at the Cannonvale and Proserpine libraries over the next couple of weeks.

Whitsunday mayor Jennifer Whitney said ABC Open producer, Dan Battley, would host the workshops to assist participants with interviewing and video skills, such as setting up cameras, framing a subject, asking questions and editing videos.

“This is a great chance for people who want to participate in ABC Open’s Life’s Big Questions Video Challenge Project to gain the essential video and interviewing skills needed to compile a video,” she said.

“The project is also an excellent opportunity for budding film producers or journalists to share their videos with ABC audiences across Australia.”

An introductory workshop (Part A), will be held at the Proserpine Library next Monday, March 17 and Beach Library on Tuesday March 18, from 9.30am-12.30pm and 1-4pm respectively. Bookings close tomorrow (Friday, March 14).

A follow-up (Part B) workshop will be held at the Proserpine Library on Monday, March 31 and Beach Library on Tuesday, April 1, at the same times. Bookings for these workshops close on Friday, March 28.

Workshops will require minimum bookings of two people to go ahead and allow for a maximum of eight people per session.
