Karting event cancelled due to wet weather

Whitsunday Times - - MOTORING -

ROUND two of the Whitsunday Moto Sports Club (WMSC) karting club championships was cancelled on the weekend due to the wet weather.

Many drivers were disappointed at the news on Sunday as round one of the club championships was also rained out last month.

The club will be preparing to host drivers from across north Queensland over three separate karting events next month.

Karting events will be held on Thursday, April 13, Saturday, April 15 and Monday, April 17.

Kart practice is held every Thursday afternoon from 3pm, and additional practice sessions will be held on Saturdays prior to race meetings.

The WMSC is gearing up to host the Shakedown Great Barrier Reef Titles on June 7-8, before the Queensland Open State Titles from July 11-13.

The state titles are expected to attract more than 350 kart drivers from across the country and volunteers are still required to ensure the event is a success.

Approved classes for the event are junior national light, junior national heavy, junior clubman, senior national at 150kg, clubman light, clubman heavy, clubman super heavy, X30 light and X30 heavy
