Riders perform at their best in Sarina
A GROUP of Cannonvalley riders travelled to Sarina to compete in the final qualifying event for the Queensland State Jump Equitation and Show Jumping Championship which will be held in April.
The two day competition was shortened to a single day event as the looming weather threatened to cancel the event all together.
While the rain held off, riders had to compete with the wind which blew so strongly it knocked over a number of jumps.
All local riders excelled in the competition and showed wonderful sportsmanship to all riders competing.
Abigail Lee and her horse Grover finished second overall in the 10 years and under Jump Equitation, while Tori Mansfield and Lilly made a massive improvement from the previous competition to take out the 11 years to under-13 division.
She was followed closely by Georgina Lee on George in fifth place and Amy Gray on Charm in sixth.
Bree Wiblen on Georgie Girl took out first place in the 13 years and under-16s division, with Sarah Dobe on Bluey coming second and Breeanna Purvis on Ledger finishing sixth.
The 16 years and under-21 competition saw Sammi Warren on Rosie finish in third.
In the Show Jumping division, Charlie Lee finished fifth on Bella in the unofficial 40cm while Sarah Dobe won the 60cm on her horse Sassy.
In the official 10 years and under ring, after a big fall, Abby Lee on Grover took out second place.
Georgina Lee and her horse George won the 11 years and under-13 with Amy Gray placing second after scoring the biggest jump she had ever done.
E grade saw Breeanna Purvis on Ledger come home in third place, while in the Pony Gal Sammi Warren on Rosie took home a blue ribbon with Bree Wiblen on Georgie Girl finishing second.
Sarah Dobe on her horse Bluey finished fourth in D Grade.
This coming weekend the club will be hosting a dressage themed rally, weather permitting.
The Whitsunday Equestrian Group are the hosting a T-Shirt Day on Sunday at the pony club grounds.
All existing and new members are encouraged to attend the first riding rally of the year.
