Battles for lead in twilight race
IT WAS another session of close racing in last Wednesday’s Ray White Twilight Race, which is run weekly by the Whitsunday Sailing Club.
Queensland Marine Services skippered by John Galloway, led the start in Division 2, making the most of the 15-20 knot winds from the south east.
Nonetheless, Storm 2 (Don Algie) and Reignition (Charles Wallis), quickly overtook QMS and had a battle for the lead.
Storm 2 eventually crossed the finish line first but on corrected time, Wobbly Boot (Craig Piccinelli), was the clear winner, in what was his first race back from a recent break.
Reignition took second place with Rising Farrst (Tim Osborne), taking third.
Kameruka (Mark and Bob Beale), was the best starter in Division 3, but it wasn’t long before High Tide (Shannon Hart), moved ahead to lead the division around the course.
Anthea (Dewi Hughes), enjoyed the strong winds to win on corrected time ahead of Kameruka and with Lorna Rose Too (Pete Mitchelson), taking a close third place.
