Local tennis stars take to the court
JUST Do It junior social tennis dodged the raindrops for an exciting afternoon of tennis.
All courts were extremely busy with many sets of tennis played.
Robbie Vrind and the three Nicholson brothers played on the mini courts and there were plenty of rallies and lots of laughter.
Joshua Bicanic, Daniel Cullen, Dylan Thorpe and Christopher Raiteri were just some of the high school students enjoying a hit on the full size courts.
Tuesday and Saturday afternoon social tennis played it lucky under overcast skies.
Those out swinging racquets, showing skill and agility were Rex Robinson, John West, Takiri Hagger and Sam Flowerday.
Tuesday evening social ten- nis was a casualty of the weather.
Thursday evening social tennis made it on court showing some great doubles action.
Anna Nowicki, Keith Miles, Norm Hold and Graham Curtis had the tennis ball running wild all over the court.
Cardio Tennis members teamed the steamy weather with a steamy workout.
Coaching pupils of the week were the Wednesday Warrior squad of Daniel and Nick Cullen, James Nolan, Jackson Warne, Sam Collinson, Cameron Rogers, Rebeka Beveridge and visiting Tuesday squad member Amy Hungerford.
Well done on a super training evening.

POWER UP: Whitsunday Weightlifting Club member Nathan Sainsbury finished second in senior men’s with a total of 175kg and a personal best clean and jerk of 95kg.
FOCUSED LIFT: Whitsunday Weightlifting Club member Anna Deveigne finished third in the senior women with a total of 85kg in Mackay on Saturday.
