Lo­cal ten­nis stars take to the court

JUST Do It ju­nior so­cial ten­nis dodged the rain­drops for an ex­cit­ing af­ter­noon of ten­nis.

All courts were ex­tremely busy with many sets of ten­nis played.

Rob­bie Vrind and the three Ni­chol­son broth­ers played on the mini courts and there were plenty of ral­lies and lots of laugh­ter.

Joshua Bi­canic, Daniel Cullen, Dy­lan Thorpe and Christo­pher Rai­teri were just some of the high school stu­dents en­joy­ing a hit on the full size courts.

Tues­day and Satur­day af­ter­noon so­cial ten­nis played it lucky un­der over­cast skies.

Those out swing­ing rac­quets, show­ing skill and agility were Rex Robin­son, John West, Takiri Hag­ger and Sam Flow­er­day.

Tues­day evening so­cial ten- nis was a ca­su­alty of the weather.

Thurs­day evening so­cial ten­nis made it on court show­ing some great dou­bles ac­tion.

Anna Now­icki, Keith Miles, Norm Hold and Gra­ham Cur­tis had the ten­nis ball run­ning wild all over the court.

Car­dio Ten­nis mem­bers teamed the steamy weather with a steamy work­out.

Coach­ing pupils of the week were the Wed­nes­day War­rior squad of Daniel and Nick Cullen, James Nolan, Jack­son Warne, Sam Collinson, Cameron Rogers, Re­beka Bev­eridge and vis­it­ing Tues­day squad mem­ber Amy Hunger­ford.

Well done on a su­per train­ing evening.

POWER UP: Whit­sun­day Weightlift­ing Club mem­ber Nathan Sains­bury fin­ished sec­ond in se­nior men’s with a to­tal of 175kg and a per­sonal best clean and jerk of 95kg.

FO­CUSED LIFT: Whit­sun­day Weightlift­ing Club mem­ber Anna Deveigne fin­ished third in the se­nior women with a to­tal of 85kg in Mackay on Satur­day.
