Poll says Air­lie is value for money

AIR­LIE Beach has ranked num­ber 10 on a list of the best value des­ti­na­tions in Aus­tralia for 2014, com­piled through the on­line ho­tel search site Trivago.

The sur­vey was based on the yearly aver­age overnight price of a stan­dard dou­ble room, com­bined with the des­ti­na­tion’s over­all ho­tel rep­u­ta­tion, gleaned from over 82 mil­lion trav­eller re­views.

Bal­larat in Vic­to­ria was this year’s num­ber one in the top 30 Aus­tralian Best Value In­dex. An overnight stay in a stan­dard dou­ble room at the for­mer gold rush town costs an aver­age of $170 per night.

Queens­land’s Mis­sion Beach came sec­ond with overnight stays av­er­ag­ing $182 and Gee­long, in Vic­to­ria, came third. Queens­land was the most fea­tured state in the top 30 list, with ten des­ti­na­tions over­all. Three of them, in­clud­ing Air­lie Beach made the top ten. The aver­age cost of an overnight stay in Air­lie Beach was $204.
