Drink-driv­ers caught

PROSER­PINE Po­lice caught two drink-driv­ers over the past week. At 10.05pm on March 13, a 32-year-old Bowen man was in­ter­cepted on Her­bert Street, Proser­pine, for a ran­dom breath test. The man later re­turned a breath al­co­hol con­cen­tra­tion of 0.181 per cent. As a re­sult of the high read­ing his li­cence was im­me­di­ately sus­pended. At 9.50pm on March 14, a 41-year-old Blooms­bury man was in­ter­cepted driv­ing on Midge Point Road, Blooms­bury, with an ex­cess breath al­co­hol con­cen­tra­tion of 0.123 per cent. He was also un­li­censed due to ex­cess demerit points. Both men will ap­pear in the Proser­pine Mag­is­trate’s Court at a later date. Mean­while, Whit­sun­day Po­lice ap­pre­hended a 52-year-old Cannonvale man with a read­ing of 0.104 per cent on March 13. A 30-year-old Cannonvale woman who was found driv­ing with­out a li­cence on Shute Har­bour Road, Cannonvale, just be­fore mid­night on March 15, also re­turned a BAC read­ing of 0.153 per cent.
