Au­thor to bring story to life at lo­cal li­braries

LO­CAL chil­dren’s au­thor Fay Thorn­ley re­cently pub­lished a chil­dren’s book Emma the Emu and her Aus­tralian Friends and will be read­ing the book dur­ing sto­ry­time ses­sions at the Proser­pine and Beach Li­brary next week.

The book is a beau­ti­ful com­pi­la­tion of Ms Thorn­ley’s wa­ter­colour paint­ings of Aus­tralian na- tive an­i­mals and is an in­ter­ac­tive story that en­cour­ages chil­dren to dance and sing.

Ms Thorn­ley first cre­ated the story for her grand­chil­dren and was thrilled to now have the op­por­tu­nity to share the book with oth­ers at the re­gion’s lo­cal li­braries. She will be read­ing her book at the Proser­pine Li­brary on Tues­day, March 25 at 10.30am, and the Beach Li­brary on Fri­day, March 28 at 10.30am.

Her book will also be read by sto­ry­time pre­sen­ters at the Bowen and Collinsville li­braries.

Sto­ry­time ses­sions are for chil­dren aged 3-5 years and are de­signed to de­velop skills, en­cour­age a love of read­ing and pro­vide in­ter­ac­tion for chil­dren and their care­givers.
