New faces join ranks at social tennis comp
WITH beautiful blue skies overhead there were plenty of smiles on the court for social tennis on Saturday afternoon.
It was a pleasure to welcome the new Whitsunday Raiders coach Isitolo Maka to the court for an afternoon of doubles action.
Anna Nowicki was the only lady out playing and gave all the men a run for their money.
Tuesday and Thursday evening social tennis were both well attended with visitors joining local members for a night of tight tennis action.
Some of those out on the court were Matthew Henning, Trent Murray, Tad Nowicki, Yoko Stimson and Graham Curtis.
JJK Complete Tennis coach Jenny Kirkman said sport and laughter were the best medicine for a happy healthy life.
Just Do It junior social tennis was a casualty of the weather, but congratulations must go to Cameron Rodgers and Jordyn Mau for making the combined school team with the next try out in Home Hill.
Cameron Rusk just missed selection.
Thanks must go to Max and his father Robert Vrind for umpiring on the day, and Elspeth Scotford for running the selection process and for her dedication to primary school tennis.
Congratulation to Trent Murray and Matthew Henning for winning the under-16 doubles in Townsville while in Sarina Sienna Mau, Amy Hungerford, Rebeka Beveridge and Jordyn Mau proved themselves in the JDS round robin.
At Thursday evening cardio tennis, Ryan Cheetham and Murray Latter were tireless workers while on Friday morning Aaron Blackburn was his usual bubbly self, keeping the ladies on their toes.
Coaching pupil of the week was Molly O’Connor for her dedication to improving her service action.
