Road rules

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

OFFICER in charge of the Whitsunday Station Acting Senior Sergeant Barry Haran said the commitment by Whitsunday Police to road safety operation ‘Radiata’ made quite an impact on local motorists blatantly breaking the road rules.

In total, 83 traffic tickets were issued over the past week, including 11 for mobile phone use and 24 for seat belt offences.

Act Snr Sgt Haran said it was disappointing that so many people disregarded their own safety by not wearing a seat belt.

On a positive note, of the 344 RBTs conducted, only one local woman tested positive with a reading of 0.122 per cent.
