New over 50’s fitness class
DUE to the success of the Wednesday over 50’s class, the Whitsunday PCYC is launching an extra over 50’s class to meet popular demand.
The first class will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 28) with pilates from 10.15am followed by a low-impact circuit fitness class from 11.30am-12.30pm.
The classes, which are designed for social enjoyment and general fitness cost $6 per person and includes morning tea.
Wednesday morning over 50’s classes are a fun filled affair and start with a low cardio, low impact and low weight circuit training at 9am, followed by pilates at 10.15am and social singing with the Coral C Voices group after morning tea at 11.30am.
Whitsunday PCYC branch support officer Jo Pillifeant said all of over 50’s activities were designed to encourage older people to attend one or more of the sessions to meet new people while improving their fitness.
“As people age, regular exercise is more important than ever for the general wellbeing of their mind and body,” she said.
“There are many physical health benefits of exercise in that it helps people maintain or lose weight and stimulates the brain. It also boosts your mood and selfconfidence, reduces the impact of illness and chronic disease while improving mobility, flexibility and balance.”
