Ju­nior ten­nis squad smashes it at Bur­dekin

THE Hamil­ton Is­land ju­nior ten­nis squad en­joyed per­fect con­di­tions af­ter trav­el­ling to com­pete in Home Hill on the weekend.

Nine boys from Hamil­ton Is­land hit the court in a well sup­ported tour­na­ment of more than 120 en­trants.

Adam Sin­gle­ton and Ry­der Har­vey played well all weekend and were de­lighted to bring home the run­ners-up tro­phy.

Mar­ley Boileau worked tire­lessly on the court to come away with third place and was only a few games off earn­ing a tro­phy. He was fol­lowed closely by Lewis Short­land in fourth place which was a great ef­fort by the boys.

Ja­cob Short­land turned it up a notch to win his di­vi­sion and bring home an­other tro­phy.

As the tour­na­ment pro­gressed Con­nor Benson and Baine Short­land stepped up their in­ten­sity to win their last few matches.

Young gun Tom Sharp was de­lighted to com­pete in his first tour­na­ment and is look­ing for­ward to com­pet­ing in up-and-com­ing events.

Coach Tan Short­land was de­lighted with the achieve­ments by all play­ers and is feel­ing pos­i­tive about the year of ten­nis ahead.
