Junior tennis squad smashes it at Burdekin
THE Hamilton Island junior tennis squad enjoyed perfect conditions after travelling to compete in Home Hill on the weekend.
Nine boys from Hamilton Island hit the court in a well supported tournament of more than 120 entrants.
Adam Singleton and Ryder Harvey played well all weekend and were delighted to bring home the runners-up trophy.
Marley Boileau worked tirelessly on the court to come away with third place and was only a few games off earning a trophy. He was followed closely by Lewis Shortland in fourth place which was a great effort by the boys.
Jacob Shortland turned it up a notch to win his division and bring home another trophy.
As the tournament progressed Connor Benson and Baine Shortland stepped up their intensity to win their last few matches.
Young gun Tom Sharp was delighted to compete in his first tournament and is looking forward to competing in up-and-coming events.
Coach Tan Shortland was delighted with the achievements by all players and is feeling positive about the year of tennis ahead.
