Ju­niors siz­zle on court at Bur­dekin

PROSER­PINE TEN­NIS

SOME stars of Proser­pine ju­nior ten­nis com­peted in the McDon­alds Ju­nior De­vel­op­ment A Se­ries in the Bur­dekin over the weekend.

All play­ers dis­played great sports­man­ship and should be pleased with their out­stand­ing achieve­ments.

Seven ju­niors com­peted with four of them ei­ther win­ning their di­vi­sion or fin­ish­ing as a run­ner-up.

Kim­berly Azul took out the di­vi­sion 3 girls in spec­tac­u­lar fash­ion while Cal­lam Ogilvie-Al­cock was the win­ner of the di­vi­sion 5 boys.

Run­ners-up at the event were Mika Stim­son in di­vi­sion 2 girls and Amy Hunger­ford in di­vi­sion 3 girls.

Other com­peti­tors from the Proser­pine Ju- nior Ten­nis Club were Seth Trinder who fin­ished fifth in the di­vi­sion 3 boys, Mia Trinder who fin­ished fifth in the di­vi­sion 5 girls and Cooper Lane who fin­ished sev­enth in the di­vi­sion 5 boys.

Sam Cor­nish had to re­tire from di­vi­sion 1 fi­nals due to ill­ness but put in an almighty ef­fort to fin­ish in fourth place.

Play­ers are now pre­par­ing for the Ju­nior De­vel­op­ment Se­ries tour­na­ment at Wests from April 5-6 be­fore mak­ing their way to the Mackay Mid North Open Age from April 18-21.

The club wishes the best of luck to all play­ers com­pet­ing at the North Queens­land ten­nis tri­als in Home Hill on Tues­day.
