Juniors sizzle on court at Burdekin
SOME stars of Proserpine junior tennis competed in the McDonalds Junior Development A Series in the Burdekin over the weekend.
All players displayed great sportsmanship and should be pleased with their outstanding achievements.
Seven juniors competed with four of them either winning their division or finishing as a runner-up.
Kimberly Azul took out the division 3 girls in spectacular fashion while Callam Ogilvie-Alcock was the winner of the division 5 boys.
Runners-up at the event were Mika Stimson in division 2 girls and Amy Hungerford in division 3 girls.
Other competitors from the Proserpine Ju- nior Tennis Club were Seth Trinder who finished fifth in the division 3 boys, Mia Trinder who finished fifth in the division 5 girls and Cooper Lane who finished seventh in the division 5 boys.
Sam Cornish had to retire from division 1 finals due to illness but put in an almighty effort to finish in fourth place.
Players are now preparing for the Junior Development Series tournament at Wests from April 5-6 before making their way to the Mackay Mid North Open Age from April 18-21.
The club wishes the best of luck to all players competing at the North Queensland tennis trials in Home Hill on Tuesday.
