WHITSUNDAY TOUCH

LOCAL players hit the field despite the wet weather for an intense round of touch football at the Whitsunday Sports Park on Monday night.

Last year’s Whitsunday Touch premiers Ray White once again found the try line to post a solid 9-5 win over the Brahmans in A grade, while Powered by Murphy defeated the Wolves 4-3, and Airlie Mixed saw off Whitsunday Food in another close clash of 4-3.

The Box Heads, who were missing many key players, had a strong attacking formation but went down to Go on Then 5-3.

New team to the B grade competition, Dingos had an epic clash against the Jets with a close scoring game at half time.

Jets ultimately proved to be too good for the side and ran away with a 6-1 victory.

An intercept after the full time siren on Heatstroke’s try line saw the side run the length of the field to score the final try and take out the 5-4 win over WRC.

In other games, the Boaties defeated Nauticool 6-4, and a huge effort from Eclipse, who were also short on players saw them defeat Amalgamated 5-4.

All teams that have not paid team fees by Monday will not receive the discount from $850 to $800.

Those needing to pay team fees should message the Whitsunday Touch Facebook page and a representative will forward the account details to complete the payment.

Teams that have not paid from this Monday will not receive points until fees are paid in full.

The Whitsunday Touch competition will continue to be held on the AFL field for the next four weeks until the bottom field is ready.
