Players pushed to the limit at weekly squash
IT WAS another huge round of squash on Tuesday, with many ladies battling it out over five games.
In the first match of the day team 1 went up against team 3, with Alex Ogilvie-Knight 3/38 defeating Di Law 2/27 in an intense five game match, while Robyn Heiniger 3/27 beat Sandra Watson 0/3 and Marian Churchward 3/34 claimed victory over Di O’Donnell 2/30 also in five games.
In other games, Judy Hughes 3/32 defeated Marj Maloney 1/23, Aimee Mitchell won on a forfeit and Lyn Muller 3/27 saw off Jenny Moranino 0/11.
The fast-paced squash action continued as team 2 took to the court to taken on team 4.
Belinda Faust 3/27 defeated Debbie Brown 0/14, while Brenda Cowan 3/28 defeated Lucy Pepper 0/17 after playing some precisely executed shots. Robyn Nixon 3/39 was also victorious over Lauren Payne 2/25 and the women were the third match of the day to go to five games.
Bec Smith 3/31 defeated Tiani Pauly 1/20, while Andrea Mitchell 3/29 beat Margaret McPherson 0/20 and Nicki Murray 3/40 just edged out Joy Vitanza 2/33 in a long fivegame match with some exceptional shots by both players.
There will be no squash next week as it is the school holidays but squash fixtures will resume on Tuesday, April 22 when school starts for the new term.
Players are welcome to come down for a hit on the first Friday of the school holidays.
For the first round of fixtures after the school holidays, team 1 will be on smoko with the order of play to follow 3-4-5-6-1-2.
