Play­ers pushed to the limit at weekly squash

IT WAS an­other huge round of squash on Tues­day, with many ladies bat­tling it out over five games.

In the first match of the day team 1 went up against team 3, with Alex Ogilvie-Knight 3/38 de­feat­ing Di Law 2/27 in an in­tense five game match, while Robyn Heiniger 3/27 beat San­dra Wat­son 0/3 and Mar­ian Church­ward 3/34 claimed vic­tory over Di O’Don­nell 2/30 also in five games.

In other games, Judy Hughes 3/32 de­feated Marj Maloney 1/23, Aimee Mitchell won on a for­feit and Lyn Muller 3/27 saw off Jenny Mo­ranino 0/11.

The fast-paced squash ac­tion con­tin­ued as team 2 took to the court to taken on team 4.

Belinda Faust 3/27 de­feated Deb­bie Brown 0/14, while Brenda Cowan 3/28 de­feated Lucy Pep­per 0/17 af­ter play­ing some pre­cisely ex­e­cuted shots. Robyn Nixon 3/39 was also vic­to­ri­ous over Lauren Payne 2/25 and the women were the third match of the day to go to five games.

Bec Smith 3/31 de­feated Tiani Pauly 1/20, while An­drea Mitchell 3/29 beat Mar­garet McPher­son 0/20 and Nicki Mur­ray 3/40 just edged out Joy Vi­tanza 2/33 in a long fiveg­ame match with some ex­cep­tional shots by both play­ers.

There will be no squash next week as it is the school hol­i­days but squash fix­tures will re­sume on Tues­day, April 22 when school starts for the new term.

Play­ers are wel­come to come down for a hit on the first Fri­day of the school hol­i­days.

For the first round of fix­tures af­ter the school hol­i­days, team 1 will be on smoko with the or­der of play to fol­low 3-4-5-6-1-2.

GREAT WIN: Brenda Cowan was all smiles af­ter her vic­tory over Lucy Pep­per at ladies squash on Tues­day.
