Tough conditions for veteran golfers
MORE than 20 veteran golfers returned to the Proserpine Golf Course for their weekly club competition on Tuesday.
This was the first competition in recent weeks after the course was closed due to the wet weather and many golfers struggled against the long grass on the fairway and wind in the afternoon which was reflected in the scores.
In the 18-hole competition, Bill Woods was the winner on 37, with Clive Hughes coming in as the runner-up on 36.
The ball rundown was made up of Dave Morris on 35, Jim Dowell on 33, Bill Jesser on 31 and Harry Gellatly on 30.
Nearest-the-pins were Vic Feldman and Mandy Patterson.
Harry Gellatly was the winner of the 9-hole competition with a score of 20 points, with Bill Woods coming in as the runner-up on 19.
In the ball rundown was Clive Hughes and Dave Morris on 18, Barry Connell on 17, with Andrew Mackay and Jim Dowell on count back for 15.
Nearest-the-pins were Mick Burrows and Mandy Patterson.
The Proserpine veteran golfers will be hosting an ordinary club competition next week, before players travel to Collinsville on April 15.
