15 epic bouts planned for fight night

TICK­ETS are on sale now for the third in­stal­ment of the Air­lie Fight Night at the Whit­sun­day PCYC on May 24.

There are cur­rently 15 bouts of both Mixed Mar­tial Arts ( MMA) and box­ing planned for the el­e­vated box­ing ring which will show­case the re­gion’s best lo­cal fighters as they face off against fierce com­peti­tors from through­out the state.

Whit­sun­day Mar­tial Arts (WMA) coach Dan Zealand will be step­ping in the ring for a huge bout of MMA and or­gan­is­ers are keep­ing tight lipped about who will par­tic­i­pate in the other main event.

Many of the re­gion’s lo­cal favourites will be re­turn­ing to the spot­light in­clud­ing crowd-pleaser Remi Vigor, Blair Frew, Matt Thurtell, Sean Kold­ers and Dan McCormack.

Heavy­weight Shane Vorstman will once again be the man to watch af­ter knock­ing out his com­peti­tor in the first 20 sec­onds of the first round of his MMA bout at the Air­lie Fight Night held in Novem­ber last year.

Lo­cal leg­end Adam Mitton has also con­firmed he will be fight­ing on the night and or­gan­is­ers are cur­rently search­ing for a Muay Thai match-up.

Zealand said 11 out of the 15 bouts had been matched with fighters from Bris­bane to Cairns.

“The guys who are back­ing it up for their sec­ond or third fight know the process and are al­ready shap­ing up to be strong con­tenders on the night,” he said.

“The 12-week chal­lenge guys are get­ting thrown deeper and deeper into the ex­pe­ri­ence and ev­ery­one is right on weight so it’s go­ing to be an ac­tion-packed event.”

Many fighters are thriv­ing un­der the coach­ing of cur­rent Ni­tro Wel­ter­weight Ti­tle holder and WMA owner An­ton Zafir who de­mands noth­ing but per­fec­tion.

Five of the 18 VIP ta­bles (seat­ing 10 people per ta­ble) have al­ready been sold and Air­lie Fight Night or­gan­iser Luke An­der­son is urg­ing lo­cals to con­tact him to se­cure their tick­ets on 0404 386 744.
