Lions support drought appeal
WHITSUNDAY Lions president Warwick McAllister and Lions member Sue McAllister travelled to Charters Towers on the weekend of March 30, to attend the Aussie Helpers drought relief farmer's hay and barbeque day.
Mr McAllister said he was proud to support Aussie Helpers by presenting a cheque of more than $6000 from the Whitsunday Lions at the event.
He also said this was the Whitsunday Lions’ third do- nation to the appeal, bringing the total to $16,036 to date.
Mrs McAllister took pamper packs to give out to the farmers’ wives. The packs were made up by the Proserpine Chat n’ Patch Group which she is also a member of.
Mr McAllister said another highlight of the day was the presentation of a cheque for $50,000, on behalf of the Australian Lions Foundation. This cheque was presented by Lions from the Castle Hill Lions Club.
