Lions sup­port drought ap­peal

WHIT­SUN­DAY Lions pres­i­dent Warwick McAl­lis­ter and Lions mem­ber Sue McAl­lis­ter trav­elled to Char­ters Tow­ers on the weekend of March 30, to at­tend the Aussie Helpers drought re­lief farmer's hay and bar­beque day.

Mr McAl­lis­ter said he was proud to sup­port Aussie Helpers by pre­sent­ing a cheque of more than $6000 from the Whit­sun­day Lions at the event.

He also said this was the Whit­sun­day Lions’ third do- na­tion to the ap­peal, bring­ing the to­tal to $16,036 to date.

Mrs McAl­lis­ter took pam­per packs to give out to the farm­ers’ wives. The packs were made up by the Proser­pine Chat n’ Patch Group which she is also a mem­ber of.

Mr McAl­lis­ter said an­other high­light of the day was the pre­sen­ta­tion of a cheque for $50,000, on be­half of the Aus­tralian Lions Foun­da­tion. This cheque was pre­sented by Lions from the Cas­tle Hill Lions Club.
