Expert coach shares skills

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

LAST weekend the Whitsunday Sailing Club hosted a coaching clinic for young sailors on 29'ers and 420's.

In addition to the local sailors, boats came from Mackay and Townsville to take part.

Sailing conditions were described as “a bit flukey” on Saturday but were near perfect by Sunday.

The young sailors were fortunate to have expert coaching provided by local sailor James Dahl.

Dahl has a wealth of knowledge, ranging from boat-set up to boat handling skills and was eager to pass this onto the youngsters.

All sailors were very thankful for the coaching and came away from the weekend having learned something new.

The weekend finished with some close racing held in the bay.

Another weekend is planned before some of the junior sailors head south for Sail Brisbane. This year’s regatta incorporates the Queensland 29’er championships. It will be held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Club at Easter.
