PROSER­PINE BOWLS

WITH Cy­clone Ita bring­ing plenty of wet weather it comes as no sur­prise that most of the week’s planned games were post­poned.

On Satur­day, the club did man­age to squeeze in a Di­vi­sion 4 pen­nants game against Mackay.

Martin Corr, Dale Haack, Barry Zill­mann and Shane Kin­n­ear were de­feated by John Bowl­ing’s team 15-24, while Philip Brown, Matthew Camm, Dean Love­lock and Todd Mar­shall were de­feated by Kevin Alldridge’s team 1720, and John Hen­der­son, Rob Tay­lor, Kevin Thoro­good and Vince Olsen were de­feated by Ian Tr­us­cott’s team 11-18.

This gave Mackay the three match points, three rink win points and an ag­gre­gate of plus 19.

There were no games on Sun­day and no mixed so­cial bowls were held.

Easter is this weekend and weather per­mit­ting, there will be mixed so­cial bowls avail­able on Sun­day, April 20.

A re­minder for play­ers to not for­get a mixed so­cial bowls af­ter­noon will be played on An­zac Day and all are wel­come.

The Davy fam­ily have put on the tro­phy for that day (Fri­day, April 25) and names must be in be­fore 1pm for a 1.30pm start.

The next com­mit­tee meet-

ing is Mon­day, April 21 at 7pm.

LADIES

On Wed­nes­day, there were three com­pe­ti­tion games played.

In the game of club cham­pi­onship pairs, Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath de­feated Car­lie Al­bert­son and Ma­ree Daf­fara 32-11.

The first games of this year’s club cham­pi­onship sin­gles were also played with Janet Mor­timer de­feat­ing Joy Jef­fries 25-5, while Lois Read de­feated Amy Hart 25-6.

Thanks must go to Bar­bara Dam­mash and Dot Hin­schen who marked these sin­gles games.

In so­cial play, Pauline Spruce, Cathy Holmes, Flo O’Hanlon and Lil­lian Har­ris de­feated Dell McCormack, John Lah­ney, Joyce Pat­ullo and Arthur Wil­liams 26-10, while May Davy, Fran Porter, June Blair and Heather Pat­ullo de­feated Norma Daniels, Trudy Hanne, Pam Selmes and Gail Camm 18-13.

Thanks must go to Joan Thoro­good, Car­lie Al­bert­son and Janet Mor­timer who rep­re­sented our club at Mackay’s Pres­i­dent’s at Home Day on Fri­day.

Good luck to Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team and Heather Brown’s team who will be play­ing in Pioneer Val­ley’s five-a-side this week.

The fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship fours com­pe­ti­tion will be played on Wed­nes­day, April 16, with Janet Mor­timer, Fran Porter, June Blair and Heather Brown play­ing Jo Peasley, Lois Read, Flo O’Hanlon and Joan McGrath.

On Wed­nes­day, April 23, the sec­ond semi fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship pairs is to be played with Janet Mor­timer and Lois Read go­ing up against Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath.

There will also be two games of club cham­pi­onship sin­gles played with Heather Brown play­ing Ma­ree Daf­fara, while June Blair will take on Car­lie Al­bert­son and mark­ers will be ad­vised.
