Mackay wins pennants
WITH Cyclone Ita bringing plenty of wet weather it comes as no surprise that most of the week’s planned games were postponed.
On Saturday, the club did manage to squeeze in a Division 4 pennants game against Mackay.
Martin Corr, Dale Haack, Barry Zillmann and Shane Kinnear were defeated by John Bowling’s team 15-24, while Philip Brown, Matthew Camm, Dean Lovelock and Todd Marshall were defeated by Kevin Alldridge’s team 1720, and John Henderson, Rob Taylor, Kevin Thorogood and Vince Olsen were defeated by Ian Truscott’s team 11-18.
This gave Mackay the three match points, three rink win points and an aggregate of plus 19.
There were no games on Sunday and no mixed social bowls were held.
Easter is this weekend and weather permitting, there will be mixed social bowls available on Sunday, April 20.
A reminder for players to not forget a mixed social bowls afternoon will be played on Anzac Day and all are welcome.
The Davy family have put on the trophy for that day (Friday, April 25) and names must be in before 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
The next committee meet-
ing is Monday, April 21 at 7pm.
On Wednesday, there were three competition games played.
In the game of club championship pairs, Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath defeated Carlie Albertson and Maree Daffara 32-11.
The first games of this year’s club championship singles were also played with Janet Mortimer defeating Joy Jeffries 25-5, while Lois Read defeated Amy Hart 25-6.
Thanks must go to Barbara Dammash and Dot Hinschen who marked these singles games.
In social play, Pauline Spruce, Cathy Holmes, Flo O’Hanlon and Lillian Harris defeated Dell McCormack, John Lahney, Joyce Patullo and Arthur Williams 26-10, while May Davy, Fran Porter, June Blair and Heather Patullo defeated Norma Daniels, Trudy Hanne, Pam Selmes and Gail Camm 18-13.

Good luck to Maree Daffara’s team and Heather Brown’s team who will be playing in Pioneer Valley’s five-a-side this week.
The final of the club championship fours competition will be played on Wednesday, April 16, with Janet Mortimer, Fran Porter, June Blair and Heather Brown playing Jo Peasley, Lois Read, Flo O’Hanlon and Joan McGrath.
On Wednesday, April 23, the second semi final of the club championship pairs is to be played with Janet Mortimer and Lois Read going up against Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath.
There will also be two games of club championship singles played with Heather Brown playing Maree Daffara, while June Blair will take on Carlie Albertson and markers will be advised.
