Juniors to compete in Mackay this weekend
THE school holidays began with the some terrific tennis training in the morning sessions hosted at Cannonvale school courts.
All courts were in operation with the youngsters enjoying the mix of drills and match play.
They were a tired and happy bunch at the end of the session and many were pleased with their improvement.
The older players did a great job assisting the younger members in a number of the fun activities.
Tuesday and Thursday evening social tennis was a hit with a fantastic roll up on both evenings.
Solid tennis was the order of each evening.
Those out enjoying the pleasant conditions were Yoko Stimson, Eileen Bright, Thomas Koeck and newcomer Toni Hancuso, to name a few.
Tuesday and Saturday afternoon match- es were a delight with the ladies at last out numbering the men.
Some entertaining battles took part but as always a “friendly cuppa and laugh” rounded out the afternoon sessions.
The men playing their crafty style of tennis were Graham Curtis, Keith Miles, Rex Robinson and Tasman Hagger.
Those interested in watching some epic junior tennis matches over the Easter weekend should head down to the Mackay Mid North Open Age this weekend from April 1821.
The next Junior Development Squad (JDS) tournament will be held in Townsville next weekend on April 26-27.
In other news, weekly coaching will take place on the courts on Tuesday with the start of term 2, while just do it junior social tennis commences on Monday, April 28.
