Vets play in inter-club challenge
MORE than 20 veteran golfers travelled to Collinsville on Tuesday to compete in an interclub challenge.
Players from Collinsville, Home Hill, Bowen and Proserpine were keen to travel the distance and made the most of playing in near perfect conditions.
Home Hill’s Fred Morcom was the winner of the men’s 18-hole competition on 38 points on countback from runner-up Tony Woolridge (Proserpine) also on 38.
In the ball rundown was Ron Jamieson (Proserpine) on 37 points, ahead of Clive Hughes (Proserpine), Les Johns (Proserpine) and Alan Spencer (Collinsville) all on 35, and Tom Flem- ing (Proserpine), Harry Gellatly (Proserpine), Dave Morris (Proserpine) and John Roser (Proserpine) all finishing with a score of 34.
The ladies 18-hole competition was taken out by Collinsville’s Mandy Fallon on 36 points, on countback from Proserpine’s Beryl Nosworthy on 36.
In the ball rundown was Caroline Awdry (Proserpine) and Katherine Borer (Proserpine) both on 35, followed by Anna Winterbourne (Proserpine) on 31, with Beverley Power (Home Hill) and Lyn Widt (Collinsville) finishing with a score of 30.
A standard club event will be held this Tuesday, April 22, at the Proserpine Golf Course with an 11am hit off.
