THE Proserpine Golf Course re-opened yesterday morning, despite receiving an estimated 180mm of rain on Sunday.

Late Sunday afternoon, about 14 holes were under water with the first fairway looking like a lake and the 7th totally under water too.

However, the Proserpine ladies weekly competition went ahead as normal yesterday with 10 players tee-ing off from 9am and playing the front nine twice.

Club professional Kane Nusteling said that with the sun still shining, he hoped the back nine would also be open over the Easter period.

He was very pleased the front nine opened so quickly after such heavy rain and said that showed the new drainage system was working well.

The course will be open every day over Easter, including Good Friday.
