Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

HUNDREDS of Telstra customers in selected parts of Proserpine and Airlie Beach can now connect to the National Broadband Network (NBN) using speedy fixed wireless technology.

Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for North Queensland, Rachel Cliffe, said the launch of Telstra services on the NBN Co’s fixed wireless network would mark the beginning of a new era for locals, putting a range of new services and applications within reach of Whitsunday residents and businesses.

“Fixed wireless on the NBN can provide the bandwidth needed to get households online using a growing range of devices,” she said.

“Another benefit of fixed wireless services for Proserpine and Airlie Beach residents is that customers can bundle together a landline and broadband service to get a better deal.”

Ms Cliffe said more than 1900 homes and businesses surrounding Proserpine and Airlie Beach were eligible to connect to fixed wireless services.
