Holidays busy for tourism industry

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

WITH ANZAC day tomorrow and Easter last weekend, the extra public holidays have paid dividends for the Whitsunday tourism industry.

We have also been experiencing excellent weather and this Easter has been one of the best in the last five years, according to Whitsundays Marketing and Development CEO, Mr Danial Rochford.

“During the course of the weekend, we saw no vacancy signs right across the whole of the region.

“With the weather Gods shining on us and the quality of our local tourism operators this Easter has been a major success, Mr Rochford said.

“We are also reporting a lot of visitors staying for longer stays as well as continuing their holiday through to the ANZAC Day long weekend.

“What this means is a massive injection of money - in the tens of millions into our local economy.”
