Internet fraud

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

WHITSUNDAY Police have been fielding a number of calls relating to online fraud. Officer in Charge of the Whitsunday Police Station, Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Teys, said people were purchasing items through unsecured payment methods over the internet and finding their goods were not dispatched despite parting with the cash. He said victims of online fraud were advised to report the incidents to the appropriate police departments instead of calling the station. Public sites explaining the different kinds of fraud and online scams can be found at www.police.qld.gov.au. The web address for forms to report the crimes is www.police.qld.gov.au
