Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

WE WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank the Airlie Beach community for the help and support we received for our wedding in March.

We were due to be married on Monday 10th March at Daydream Island, which was the same time that cyclone Hadi had planned to visit the area. Due to the weather concerns Maritime Safety Queensland shut the port from 6pm the Saturday prior to our wedding, which meant that we had to decide if and how we were still going to be married.

As we had 80 guests travelling from outside of the Whitsundays, we had to make the decision if we were going to postpone the wedding and lose many of our guests or change the venue of our wedding so it could still go ahead.

In wanting to have our guests in attendance, we re-planned our wedding to be held at Airlie Beach on the Monday which gave our guests time to have flights and accommodation redirected and booked.

We didn’t know what we were going to do for a venue, let alone the other details you generally spend 12 months planning for – and within hours, venues and services came to our rescue and offered their support.

We want to say an enormous thanks to everyone involved, we have been speechless for weeks as it’s so nice being a relatively new resident to this area to have experienced the amazing community spirit that is well and truly alive here in Airlie Beach – thank you. Tash and Peter Wheeler AIRLIE BEACH
