Hive of activity over Easter

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

THE Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) was a hive of activity over the Easter long weekend, with 60 off-beach boats participating in the club’s Easter Regatta.

Around 150 sailors, friends and supporters attended the three-day event, with many people coming from as far afield as Mission Beach, Townsville, Mackay and Keppel Bay, to join locals from the Whitsunday Sailing Club.

The regatta included a new division called the ‘green fleet’, which consisted of younger sailors competing for the first time. Also racing were all the usual classes, including optimists, sabots, tasars, lasers and catamarans.

Local sailors including Dan Townsend, Aidan Gummow, Tom Sharpe and Ryan Tarver all sailed particularly well.

At the end of the regatta, club officials congratulated all competitors and thanked the many people who participated in the annual event.

READY TO LAUNCH: About 60 boats took part in the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s East- er Regatta over the long weekend.
