TVs need to be re-tuned

LO­CAL res­i­dents are re­minded that all free-to-air tele­vi­sion chan­nels in Air­lie Beach and sur­round­ing ar­eas, changed to new fre­quen­cies yes­ter­day (Wed­nes­day, June 25).

The tele­vi­sion re­tune is part of a na­tional pro­gramme, to be com­pleted by the end of 2014, which will free up space for new ser­vices such as mo­bile broad­band.

Af­ter chan­nels have changed, view­ers will need to re­tune their dig­i­tal TV, set-top box or dig­i­tal TV re- corder to find the chan­nels that have moved. Ar­eas af­fected yes­ter­day in­clude Air­lie Beach, Flame­tree, Ju­bilee Pocket, Cannonvale, Can­non Val­ley, Wood­wark and Man­dalay.

Shute Har­bour res­i­dents will re­tune to­day (June 26) and Proser­pine on July 2. Parts of Proser­pine will re­tune on July 3. Re­tun­ing is done us­ing the re­mote. A video and three­step guide to re­tun­ing is avail­able on the web­site www.re­tune.dig­i­tal­ready.gov.au.
