Local wins Mackay fitness competition
AIRLIE Beach local Kieran Rundle won the male category of Mackay’s ASN, Australian Sports Nutrition, 10 Week Body Transformation Challenge last month.
Dropping a total of 10.3kg in ten weeks, Mr Rundle was one of 246 entrants in Mackay and was short listed to the top 50 nationwide.
The Extreme Fitness Airlie Beach gym instructor decided to partake in the challenge after receiving a few injures which left him feeling unfocused and unsatisfied.
“I’ve always wanted to do a challenge, I was getting out of shape and needed the kick-start,” he said.
Mr Rundle said he couldn’t have done it without the guidance and training from Extreme Fitness owner Alex Anderou.
“He offered to train me for the ten weeks, having someone like him and [with] his expertise [meant] I couldn’t knock that opportunity back,” he said.
Mr Rundle said he’s feeling better than ever. “[I’m] so happy; I’ve been smiling all day, every day. I didn’t think of it as a comp, just a chance to get super healthy and fit,” he said.
Part of the reason Mr Rundle completed the challenge was to inspire other members at the gym.
“Obviously working in a gym it’s good to look like I know what I am talking about,” he said.
Members have already come to Mr Rundle wanting assistance with upcoming challenges.
Mr Rundle trains once or twice every day and maintains a very healthy diet.
“I don’t even want rubbish food anymore,” he said.
He encourages anyone to give a transformation challenge a go and said getting a personal trainer is the key to success.
“If there is any advice I can give, get a personal trainer to assist in nutrition and exercise.
“Anyone can get a PT but look for someone who has experience, competes or has a portfolio in transforming people,” he said.
