Cam­p­draft re­turns to Proser­pine

THE Whit­sun­day Cam­p­draft re­turns to Proser­pine Show­grounds this Fri­day night in what’s ex­pected to be a week­end of horse sports fun.

With plenty of ju­nior horse sports sched­uled for Satur­day and Sun­day, the an­nual event will be hosted by the Whit­sun­day Branch Aus­tralian Stock Horse So­ci­ety.

Fes­tiv­i­ties start on Fri­day night (Au­gust 8) with a Jack­pot Bar­rel race at 6pm.

The event is fully catered with free camp­ing and will re­quire about 900 head of cat­tle over the two days.

Satur­day’s events will in­clude a Shannon Broth­ers memo­rial open draft, Sandy­glen Stock­horses ash draft run, Dow­dens Pump­ing and Wa­ter Treat­ment ju­nior draft and the Splash Pools maiden draft and fi­nals.

Tipped to be a high­light of the week­end is the fancy dress bare­back cut-out on Satur­day night.

Sun­day will be another jam­packed day of drafts and fi­nals as well as another cut-out com­pe­ti­tion run by Cof­fee­l­i­cious where cut-out win­ners have a chance to win the cutout tro­phy.

Com­peti­tors in the Whit­sun­day Cam­p­draft will be trav­el­ling from Rock­hamp­ton, Townsville and in­land Mo­ran­bah.
