Challenger’s Cup preps sailors for Race Week
THE fourth race in the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s Challengers Cup series, and final offshore race before the Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week, was held on Sunday in ideal sailing conditions.
With 18 knots of wind to propel competitors along, Reignition (Charles Wallis), sailed well to win on line honours in Division 2.
On corrected time however, it was Twister (Kevin Fogarty), who claimed the win, fol- lowed by Wobbly Boot (Craig Piccinelli), in second and Reignition in third.
In Division 3, the final placings matched the line honours order, with Anthea (Dewi Hughes), in first place, High Tide (Shannon Hart), in second and Lorna Rose Too (Pete Mitchelson), in third.
Club boats will now take on the Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week, with the first race day on Saturday, August 9.
