Chal­lenger’s Cup preps sailors for Race Week

THE fourth race in the Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club’s Chal­lengers Cup se­ries, and fi­nal off­shore race be­fore the Vi­sion Sur­veys Air­lie Beach Race Week, was held on Sun­day in ideal sail­ing con­di­tions.

With 18 knots of wind to pro­pel com­peti­tors along, Reig­ni­tion (Charles Wal­lis), sailed well to win on line hon­ours in Divi­sion 2.

On cor­rected time how­ever, it was Twis­ter (Kevin Fog­a­rty), who claimed the win, fol- lowed by Wob­bly Boot (Craig Pic­cinelli), in sec­ond and Reig­ni­tion in third.

In Divi­sion 3, the fi­nal plac­ings matched the line hon­ours order, with Anthea (Dewi Hughes), in first place, High Tide (Shannon Hart), in sec­ond and Lorna Rose Too (Pete Mitchel­son), in third.

Club boats will now take on the Vi­sion Sur­veys Air­lie Beach Race Week, with the first race day on Satur­day, Au­gust 9.
