WHITSUNDAY TENNIS

TENNIS continues to power on in the Whitsundays, with blockbuster action hitting the courts this week.

Sunday saw a father and son workout between Darren and Cameron Rusk before Monday’s Just Do It Junior social tennis crew scurried around the courts.

Eran Kirkpatrick, Taylor and Jordan Bannister and Scott and Mark Nicholson were the stars on the day.

Tuesday afternoon social tennis proved a pleasant affair, with Rex Robinson and Ian Eldridge joining John West to strengthen the men’s numbers.

This didn’t stop the ladies from dominating, well and truly keeping the boys in check. Tuesday evening saw the elite squad put to the test with an hour of heavy hitting.

Keith Miles, Darren Rusk, Matthew Newton and Rick Galea produced an enthralling doubles match afterwards.

Fit, Fun Tennis – the upbeat cardio workout on a tennis court – was well attended on Thursday night, while Tash and Aaron Blackburn returned to action in stunning fashion on Friday morning.

The coaching pupils of the week were Emma Dinnie, for an amazing workout which illustrated forehands and backhands, and Richard Weaver for a strong service action.
