Ruthless Whitsunday crushes Hawks
WHITSUNDAY’S under-15s have continued its strong season, touching up Mackay City Hawks on Saturday morning.
The Sea Eagles obliterated Mackay City to win 20.10.130 to 3.3.21 at the Whitsunday Sportspark – the team’s seventh victory of the season.
The home side rocketed to a 46-point lead at the first break before extending their lead to a staggering 97 at halftime.
A further four goals would make Hawks’ day go from bad to worse, however they would break their duck to record a rare major in the third quarter.
Surprisingly, Mackay City kicked two goals to Whitsunday’s one in the final term, however the hosts would still record a crushing 91-point victory.
Rhys Furhmann starred with six goals while Hudson McGregor booted four majors.
Matthew Jenkins, Jacob Healey, Riley Merceica and Max Cornish excelled around the grounds in what was a clinical display.
The junior Sea Eagles are second on the ladder, but remain comfortably clear of both the Swans and Hawks.
Their real premiership threat is the dominant Saints, who boast a staggering percentage of 789.81.
This weekend Whitsunday will travel to Etwell Park to play the Swans.
