It’s time to nom­i­nate com­mu­nity cham­pi­ons

WHIT­SUN­DAY res­i­dents have an op­por­tu­nity to recog­nise the great work of lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions and in­di­vid­u­als through the up­com­ing In­clu­sive Com­mu­nity Cham­pi­ons (ICC) Awards.

Nom­i­na­tions are now open for the awards, which recog­nise and cel­e­brate the venues, fa­cil­i­ties, or­gan­i­sa­tions and in­di­vid­u­als that en­cour­age and sup­port their com­mu­nity, in an in­clu­sive sense.

Mayor Jennifer Whit­ney said his­tor­i­cally, the pop­u­la­tions that ex­pe­ri­enced the great­est dif­fi­culty ac­cess­ing venues and ser­vices, in­cluded peo­ple with a med­i­cal con­di­tion, tem­po­rary in­jury or dis­abil­ity and those aged over 60, plus par­ents with prams. Nom­i­na­tions can be made in six cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing best sport­ing fa­cil­ity, best lo­cal busi­ness/com­mu­nity ser­vice provider, best govern­ment de­part­ment or agency, best recre­ation/ leisure/entertainment venue or precinct, best tourism or ac­com­mo­da­tion provider and best in­di­vid­ual.

Nom­i­na­tions close on Septem­ber 12 and the win­ners will be recog­nised at a lo­cal pre­sen­ta­tion in Oc­to­ber.
