Fine dining feast for Hamo Race Week
HAMILTON Island is ready to host the largest offshore sailing regatta in the Southern Hemisphere next week.
The Audi Hamilton Island Race Week has evolved considerably over the past 31 years into a spectacular display of on-water racing paired with fine epicurean cuisine and flowing champagne.
Iconic Australian chefs Matt Moran, Kylie Kwong and Shannon Bennett will delight guests with a unique gastronomic experience.
Bennett, head chef of Vue de Monde (Melbourne) will bring his signature haute cuisine to qualia with a degustation-style menu celebrating the best in Whitsunday produce. Moran’s Chiswick-style Long Pavilion dinner will reflect his paddock-to-plate philosophy while renowned chef Kwong will present an intimate, Chinese family-style dinner at Pebble Beach.
Guillaume Brahimi, who recently opened his eponymous restaurant in Sydney, will host a beautiful cocktail part on a luxury boat, serving local produce including spanner crab, prawns and oysters.
The most coveted event of the week, however, will once again by the Charles Heidsieck Champagne lunch on Wednesday.
The lunch will see more than 200 guests enjoy a selection of Heidsieck’s champagnes, paired with a four-course meal created by qualia executive chef Alastair Waddell.
The elegant menu features butter poached marron tail, tea smoked quail and charred watermelon, strawberry and raspberry granita, paired with the finest of Heidsieck’s drops.
Wednesday will see the inaugural Piper Heidsieck Champagne lunch, set overlooking Catseye Beach.
More than 120 guests will enjoy a feast consisting of scallops, salmon and bee pollen and vanilla icecream.
Tanqueray is also hosting a cocktail-inspired event at the Captains Club on Tuesday while the Ketel One DIY Bloody Mary Bar will be operating every morning outside Manta Ray from 7-10am.
Audi Hamilton Island Race Week runs from August 16-23.
