Fine dining feast for Hamo Race Week

HAMIL­TON Is­land is ready to host the largest off­shore sail­ing regatta in the South­ern Hemi­sphere next week.

The Audi Hamil­ton Is­land Race Week has evolved con­sid­er­ably over the past 31 years into a spec­tac­u­lar dis­play of on-wa­ter rac­ing paired with fine epi­curean cui­sine and flow­ing cham­pagne.

Iconic Aus­tralian chefs Matt Mo­ran, Kylie Kwong and Shannon Ben­nett will de­light guests with a unique gas­tro­nomic ex­pe­ri­ence.

Ben­nett, head chef of Vue de Monde (Mel­bourne) will bring his sig­na­ture haute cui­sine to qualia with a de­gus­ta­tion-style menu cel­e­brat­ing the best in Whit­sun­day pro­duce. Mo­ran’s Chiswick-style Long Pav­il­ion din­ner will re­flect his pad­dock-to-plate phi­los­o­phy while renowned chef Kwong will present an in­ti­mate, Chi­nese fam­ily-style din­ner at Peb­ble Beach.

Guil­laume Brahimi, who re­cently opened his epony­mous res­tau­rant in Sydney, will host a beau­ti­ful cock­tail part on a lux­ury boat, serv­ing lo­cal pro­duce in­clud­ing span­ner crab, prawns and oys­ters.

The most cov­eted event of the week, how­ever, will once again by the Charles Hei­d­sieck Cham­pagne lunch on Wed­nes­day.

The lunch will see more than 200 guests en­joy a se­lec­tion of Hei­d­sieck’s cham­pagnes, paired with a four-course meal cre­ated by qualia ex­ec­u­tive chef Alas­tair Wad­dell.

The el­e­gant menu fea­tures but­ter poached mar­ron tail, tea smoked quail and charred wa­ter­melon, straw­berry and rasp­berry granita, paired with the finest of Hei­d­sieck’s drops.

Wed­nes­day will see the in­au­gu­ral Piper Hei­d­sieck Cham­pagne lunch, set over­look­ing Cat­s­eye Beach.

More than 120 guests will en­joy a feast con­sist­ing of scal­lops, sal­mon and bee pollen and vanilla ice­cream.

Tan­queray is also host­ing a cock­tail-in­spired event at the Cap­tains Club on Tues­day while the Ke­tel One DIY Bloody Mary Bar will be op­er­at­ing ev­ery morn­ing out­side Manta Ray from 7-10am.

Audi Hamil­ton Is­land Race Week runs from Au­gust 16-23.
