Call out now for government grants
GOVERNMENT funding is currently available under the Everyone’s Environment Grants Program and Disability Community Events Grant.
The Disability Community Events Grants 2014 provides one-off grants for organisations to hold events in the local community during Disability Action Week from September 14-20 and / or on the International Day of People with Disability on December 3.
Whitsunday mayor Jennifer Whitney said up to $21,400 was available within the region for a number of applications to be considered, with an open tender process used to invite applications from local organisations.
She said the grants were aimed at promoting and strengthening accessibility, inclusion and social and economic participation of people with disabilities in the community.

Applications close at 3pm next Monday, August 18.
The Everyone’s Environ- ment Grants Program is also currently seeking applications for a wide range of heritage projects.
Individuals and community groups can apply for $40,000 in funding for projects with a focus on protecting Queensland’s built heritage.
Organisations that are eligible to apply include non-profit incorporated groups or organisations, specialist bodies established to conserve or manage heritage places and owners of places in the Queensland Heritage Register or a local heritage register who can demonstrate community benefit involvement.
Projects which are eligible include those that conserve original heritage features, restore heritage parks and gardens and improve access and continued use of heritage places by the community.
