I WOULD like to thank the community and our generous sponsors and contributors for their support of another fantastic Whitsunday Reef Festival. Feedback from the community and our visitors has been hugely positive and rewarding to our small but dedicated committee of volunteers who put in such a huge effort to bring the region’s largest event to the community annually.
Special thanks goes out to our major sponsor True Blue Sailing who have committed a considerable financial contribution this year resulting in a fantastic lineup of entertainment throughout the eight day festival.
Also to the incredibly hardworking Beach Music team for providing such an impressive stage right in the middle of Airlie Main Street which all our artists loved playing on.
Another big shout out to Porters who have sponsored the fireworks event over the last five years – a massive contribution from a locally owned business. This event has grown into the biggest night out on the Airlie Beach calendar and we urge the community to support these businesses that bring so much joy to our community.
Thanks of course to the very supportive team at the Whitsunday Times for promoting the event so everyone in the community knows about it.
It was fantastic to see the “Heart of the Reef” theme really shining through this year with the Rotary Street Parade and the Telstra Family Fun Day which were both highly successful and well-attended events. We will be building on the Reef element of the festival over the years and were very excited to unveil stage 1 of our reef art installation this year.
This year we have received funding from Tourism and Events Queensland and WMDL towards marketing of the festival to a broader region as well as towards development of the festival into a tourism event.
We will be surveying businesses in regards to economic impacts of the festival for our reports. Please send any feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org as all information is helpful and will assist in planning of next year’s festival. Margie Murphy Chairperson WHITSUNDAY REEF FESTIVAL
