Final twilight preps sailors for race week
THE final twilight race before the 25th Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week was held last Wednesday in ideal 15-knot winds.
A fleet of 19 yachts headed out to the course set in Pioneer Bay with Fantasia 2 (Andrew Stransky), Tulip (Bernie van’t Hof) and Masquerade (Tom Vujasinovic), taking the best starts across the divisions.
Fantasia 2 continued a great race to win ahead of Drumbeat (Brian Forrester), in Division 1.
Tulip also blitzed the Division 2 field to win on line honours and corrected time ahead of Queensland Marine Services (John Galloway) and Reignition (Charles Wallis).
Meanwhile in Division 3, Riff Raff (Dan White), used the weather conditions to his advantage to win on line ho- nours and corrected time ahead of Serendipity (Roger Boast) and Masquerade.
There was no twilight race this week with Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week continuing until Friday, August 15.
