Caltex Day brings fueled up field
A STRONG field of 34 players turned out for a twoball ambrose competition sponsored by Caltex Proserpine on Sunday.
The competition, open to all Whitsunday Golf Club members and guests, was played in near perfect conditions, although a little blustery later in the morning.
Mick Cooper and Jimmy McGaffin triumphed, carding a nett score of 63.75 to oust Anna Winterbourn and Rod Wecker (66.5).
Ben Ryan and Wayne Temby (66), Dean Kercher and Scotty Wardroper (66.25), Tiina Randmae and Wilf Herweg (66.75), Pauline Redpath and Kym Hill (66.75) and Jacqui Wall and Brad Bowring (67.25) comprised the ball rundown.
Bowring (A-grade), Herweg (B-grade), Anna Winterbourn and Joanne Moynihan (ladies) claimed the longest drives on the day, while Dean Kercher and Scotty Wardroper cleaned up the nearest-thepins.
The duo claimed titles on holes 9, 13 and 16, while Ron Jamieson and Leanne Abernethy were closest on the second.
Off the field Anna Winter- bourn and Kym Hill were best dressed on the day.
This Sunday a single stableford competition will be held while the Tiger Woods Stableford is set for Sunday, August 24.
The August Monthly Medal will be played on Sunday, August 31.
