Cal­tex Day brings fu­eled up field

WHIT­SUN­DAY GOLF

A STRONG field of 34 play­ers turned out for a twoball am­brose com­pe­ti­tion spon­sored by Cal­tex Proser­pine on Sun­day.

The com­pe­ti­tion, open to all Whit­sun­day Golf Club mem­bers and guests, was played in near per­fect con­di­tions, although a lit­tle blus­tery later in the morn­ing.

Mick Cooper and Jimmy McGaf­fin tri­umphed, card­ing a nett score of 63.75 to oust Anna Win­ter­bourn and Rod Wecker (66.5).

Ben Ryan and Wayne Temby (66), Dean Kercher and Scotty Wardroper (66.25), Ti­ina Rand­mae and Wilf Her­weg (66.75), Pauline Red­path and Kym Hill (66.75) and Jac­qui Wall and Brad Bowring (67.25) com­prised the ball run­down.

Bowring (A-grade), Her­weg (B-grade), Anna Win­ter­bourn and Joanne Moyni­han (ladies) claimed the long­est drives on the day, while Dean Kercher and Scotty Wardroper cleaned up the near­est-thep­ins.

The duo claimed ti­tles on holes 9, 13 and 16, while Ron Jamieson and Leanne Aber­nethy were clos­est on the sec­ond.

Off the field Anna Win­ter- bourn and Kym Hill were best dressed on the day.

This Sun­day a sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion will be held while the Tiger Woods Sta­ble­ford is set for Sun­day, Au­gust 24.

The Au­gust Monthly Medal will be played on Sun­day, Au­gust 31.
