THIS Sunday will see the Proserpine Hack and Pony Club Grounds come alive for the North Queensland Equestrian Show.

In conjunction with this year’s show, Coast to Coal Quarter Horse Association Inc is running an A Show Western Program. Members over the last few months have been busy preparing the grounds for this annual event, including the construction of a new toilet and shower complex. President Suzanne Greenhalgh said “this year is set to be bigger than ever, with competitors travelling from far North Cairns and as far south as Rockhampton” for the event which will include the Filby’s Motor Proserpine Jumping Ring, the Saddle- world Rockhampton Horse and Rider Newcomer Horse of the Year.

This year’s Newcomer event has sparked great interest, with promising nominations set to battle for a host of prizes. Other events on the day include the Hoof and Horn Produce and Saddlery Champion Led Horse, Lanskey’s Saddleworld Townsville Champion Pony Junior Rider and Outback Bricklaying Supreme Hack of Show and Champion and Reserve Champion Adult Rider and Leigh’s Quarter Horse Stud Hi Point Horse.

Entry into the grounds is free so spectators are encouraged to attend. A fully catered canteen and barbeque will also be available on the day.
