Big win for Pre­mier men

FOOT­BALL

WHIT­SUN­DAY Foot­ball Club’s pre­mier men are up and about fol­low­ing a stun­ning 6-1 win over Coun­try United at the week­end.

Luke Hillery and Mark Kil­lian each scored braces on Satur­day af­ter­noon, as the men cruised to their eighth win of the sea­son.

Sa­muel Watt and Jar­rod Lee also found the back of the net, as last year’s grand fi­nal­ists en­joyed a con­sis­tent 90minute ef­fort at Coun­try United Fields.WFC re­main in third spot, just one com­pe­ti­tion point be­hind Mag­pies (28).

This week the pre­mier men will face the lad­der-lead­ing Lions on Satur­day.

MCL

It was all sys­tems go for MCL on Satur­day, romp­ing to a con­vinc­ing 4-0 win over Coun­try United.

Cap­tain Matthew Page bagged two goals, while Matt Stain­lay and Jake Fla­herty also scored.

MCL led 2-0 at half­time be­fore dou­bling its ad­van­tage in the fi­nal 45 min­utes, con­sol­i­dat­ing its spot in third.

This week­end the MCL will face Sa­rina from 3pm.

RE­SERVES

The re­serves came from be­hind to se­cure a draw against Wests on Satur­day night at Coun­try United Fields.

WFC trailed 1-0 at half­time, be­fore An­drew Hod­gen came to life in the sec­ond half. Hod­gen booted two goals, as the re­serves man­aged to snare a cru­cial point in the 2-2 draw. WFC is fourth on the lad­der with 23 com­pe­ti­tion points, be­hind Lions (36), Mag­pies (32) and City Broth­ers (29).

This week­end they will play Lions.
