Calling all wedding suppliers
A co-operative of local businesses that work together to attract weddings to the Whitsundays are looking for new members.
Weddings Whitsundays brings together scores of local suppliers in one easy-to-use web-based directory including celebrants, photographers, hairdressers, make-up artists, florists, dressmakers, car hire companies, cake makers, caterers and venues.
The result is that couples can find all the information they need for a wonderful destination wedding in one click, which encourages them to choose the Whitsundays over other wedding destinations.
The not-for-profit group is always looking for new members and invites local businesses who are interested in growing the wedding industry to the AGM, on Tuesday, August 26, to find out what it's all about.
Weddings Whitsundays president Debbie Savy said the 'destinations wedding' market was worth about $115 million a year to the Whitsundays' economy.
"Not only do weddings support the local wedding suppliers but they also provide a boost for hotels, tour operators, restaurants and shops, as couples and their guests stay and explore the region," said Mrs Savy.
"Since Weddings Whitsundays was established in 2007, the Whitsunday wedding market has grown steadily year-on-year and it is estimated that one in every five tourism dollars spent in the region is from weddings.
"We invite more suppliers to join us to further strengthen our offering, which is about providing brides and grooms with a complete wedding package with everyone focused on delivering exceptional service so we continue our reputation for being 'the wedding heart of Australia'."
The AGM, which will be held in the Nautilus Room at the Coral Sea Resort from 9am, will include an update on the past 12 months and the strategy for 2015. Everyone is welcome - please email email@example.com to RSVP for catering purposes.
