Club Championships postponed for Whitsunday Motosports Club
ROUND 2 of the Whitsudnay Motosports Club’s Club Championships have been postponed following a number of complications at the weekend.
The forecast for bad weather forced officials’ hands on Friday when the club officially opted to hold off proceedings for Saturday and Sunday
Weather reports were ultimately proved wrong, as the sun shone for all of Sunday and the better part of Saturday afternoon at the Whitsunday Raceway.
Whitsunday Motosports Club president Andrew Auld said regardless of weather, the championships would’ve been difficult to coordinate.
“There was a lot of other motorcycle racing in North Queensland on the weekend and we had trouble getting hold of our official [who had a family commitment],” Auld said.
“The other guys who could’ve helped were also busy, so we were down a steward. We could’ve made it a practice but with the amount of rain forecast we decided to reschedule. It’s a bit disappointing but there are plenty of other weekends.”
Auld said the club would meet to determine an appropriate date to host the catch-up event.
Rounds 3 and 4 of the four round championships are scheduled for September 7 and November 16.
Frank Teske, Mungo McMurtrie, Brodie Oats, Shaun Weidman, Ashley Wheeler and Craig Garth currently top the rankings for their respective classes following round 1, which was held on April 26.
RAINED OUT: The Whitsunday Raceway was a gloomy sight late last week, which prompted officials to postpone the Whitsunday Motosports Club's Club Championships.
