Bowring’s day out in the sun

BRAD Bowring has shone amid the gloom to win the Whit­sun­day Golf Club’s stroke com­pe­ti­tion at the week­end.

Many feared there wouldn’t be a Sun­day com­pe­ti­tion af­ter sev­eral days of rain; how­ever the sun shone to pro­duce ideal golf­ing con­di­tions.

Bowring, who also won the long­est drive, carded 73 to win the men’s A-grade ti­tle, fin­ish­ing ahead of Kym Hill (75).

Ross Richards had the best gross score.

Reg Kercher was vic­to­ri­ous in the Bgrade field, pro­duc­ing a round of 63 to beat Mark Ni­col (67).

Kercher also won the long­est drive while Wilf Her­weg won the best gross score.

Ladies’ ace Ti­ina Rand­mae marginally beat out Tessa Aitken for the women’s ti­tle.

Ti­ina Rand­mae carded 71 while Tessa Aitken man­aged 72 at the Proser­pine Golf Club on Sun­day.

Jac­qui Wall had the best gross score while Ti­ina Rand­mae won the long­est drive.

Near­est-the-pins went to Bowring (no. 13), Rod Wecker (no. 16), Mark Ni­col (no. 16) and Pauline Red­path (no. 16).

The for­mat for this Sun­day has been changed and the Au­gust Monthly Medal will be held with tee-off set for 7.30am.
