Bowring’s day out in the sun
BRAD Bowring has shone amid the gloom to win the Whitsunday Golf Club’s stroke competition at the weekend.
Many feared there wouldn’t be a Sunday competition after several days of rain; however the sun shone to produce ideal golfing conditions.
Bowring, who also won the longest drive, carded 73 to win the men’s A-grade title, finishing ahead of Kym Hill (75).
Ross Richards had the best gross score.
Reg Kercher was victorious in the Bgrade field, producing a round of 63 to beat Mark Nicol (67).
Kercher also won the longest drive while Wilf Herweg won the best gross score.
Ladies’ ace Tiina Randmae marginally beat out Tessa Aitken for the women’s title.
Tiina Randmae carded 71 while Tessa Aitken managed 72 at the Proserpine Golf Club on Sunday.
Jacqui Wall had the best gross score while Tiina Randmae won the longest drive.
Nearest-the-pins went to Bowring (no. 13), Rod Wecker (no. 16), Mark Nicol (no. 16) and Pauline Redpath (no. 16).
The format for this Sunday has been changed and the August Monthly Medal will be held with tee-off set for 7.30am.
