Wintersun success for vets in Mackay
PROSERPINE golfers have enjoyed success at the Veterans Wintersun Carnival in Mackay.
Anthony Woodridge won the B-grade title with a gross score of 356 (284 nett), while Vic Feldman finished third in the gross scores and second in the nett.
Peter Browning claimed the sixth best nett score (303) while Barry Mortimer ranked seventh in gross (382).
Harry Gellatly finished with the second best nett score (292) in the C-grade field, while Clive Hughes made the top 10 for both gross (413) and nett (307) scores.
Of the ladies, Bernice Petersen was the highest ranked golfer in sixth position (117 -points).
Kath Borer finished 12th with 104-points.
The C-grade field saw Caroline Awdry claim fourth with 118-points.
The club also had players contest Wintersun events in Sarina and Pioneer Valley and look forward to more success in 2015.
Closer to home, the veteran golfers hit the course on Tuesday afternoon.
Bill Woods claimed the 18hole competition with 38, ahead of Andrew Mackay (36), Bill Jesser (35), Russell Reardon (34), Nick Apruzzese, Tom Fleming, Tony Woolridge and Caroline Awdry (33).Bill Woods and Jan Shuwalow won nearest-the-pins.
Mackay won the nine-hole competition, winning on a countback from Woolridge, Apruzzese and Beryl Nosworthy (19).
Steve Barry, Bill Jesser and Bill Woods (18) finished in the ball rundown.
Caroline Awdry and Tony Woolridge were nearest-thepin recipients.
