Footballers shine in torrid weather
WHITSUNDAY’S junior footballers have shone amid gloomy conditions at Proserpine at the weekend.
Although the club didn’t get the results it would’ve liked, the application from all teams was something to behold on Saturday at a wet Proserpine Sports Complex on Saturday morning.
The under-9s went down to Country United 8-5 and Proserpine 4-2.
Henry Docking and Jack Ludlow were outstanding in both games, making a mockery of the muddy grounds.
The under-10s faired slightly better, securing two draws against Country United (2-2) and Proserpine (5-5), with plenty of under-9s helping fill numbers.
Dylan Beale and Daniel Hally led the way.
The club also contested the Wulguru Carnival on Sunday near Townsville, with the under-10s enjoying a field day.
The team won all five games, however the under-9s were pitted against a much tougher group, and with key players absent, it made for a difficult day.
With Louie Archer, Oli Purcell and Flynn Purcell on loan to the under-10s, the team managed to record a win and a draw.
This weekend will be the final round of matches for the region’s juniors.
