Chamber off commerce committee now complete

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY BUSINESS -

A NEW era is underway for the Airlie Beach Chamber of Commerce with its committee of eight people finalised this week.

Judy Porter from the Reserve Group has taken on the role of secreatry and Paul Burke from the Leader Group has taken on the role of treasurer.

Joining new president Tony Laurent (AirlieBeach.com) is vice-presdient Mark Beale (Ray White Whitsunday).

Other committee members are Philip Larsson (Airlie Beach Apartments), Megan Taylor (Kapow Interactive), Jimmy Duncan ( WS Group) and John Harker (RPS Group).

Vice-president Mark Beale said this was a “very diverse group”.

“And a fresh new committee means fresh new ideas. To have eight people on the committee will give the Chamber a new lease of life,” he said.

Chamber president Tony Laurent said the new committee held its first meeting on Tuesday afternoon which he described as extremely positive.

He said the committee would now take time to listen to the local business community about what they wanted from the organisation.

“I want them to tell me what they think the role of the Chamber should be and how we can help and support them,” he said.
